A lot of expats in Montenegro have to make a big decision regarding children's school education. There are good public schools and few private ones to choose from.

The American, British, French, Russian schools offer excellent educational programs, but enrolment process is not easy and tuition is high. And those schools give preference to children from their countries.

The following international schools work in Montenegro in the 2019/2020 academic year:

1. Adriatic College

Adriatic College

Admission to this polylingual international school is carried out throughout the calendar year.

The school operates five days a week, lessons are 45 minutes with brakes from 10 to 20 minutes. Lunches are provided. There is also an extended day program and many after school activities. Training is conducted in Russian or Montenegrin languages.

To enter Adriatic College you must provide:

  1. Application for admission;
  2. A copy of the parent's passport;
  3. A copy of the student's passport;
  4. A copy of the birth certificate;
  5. A personal file and a medical record.

At the end of the 9th grade, students are issued a Montenegrin document confirming completion of basic school (Svedočanstvo), and/or a Russian school certificate.

Arcadia Academy

Arcadia Academy operates under the auspices of the Council of British International Schools (COBIS) with Cambridge educational program. Preschool education goes according to the Montessori system.

Elementary school: Cambridge Primary from 5 to 11 years old, Cambridge Secondary 1 from 11 to 14 years old.

Program IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education): from 14 to 16 years, level A — from 16 to 18 years.

For admission you will need:

  1. A completed application form;
  2. Copy of birth certificate or passport;
  3. A copy of the passports of the parents;
  4. Copies of documents from previous schools (if available).

School certificate (Cambridge International Examination Diploma) provides an opportunity to enter the University of Cambridge, Oxford and other leading universities in the world. Students who graduate from other schools may apply to Arcadia Academy to take the exam and receive the same diploma.

3. Dukley Academy

Dukley Academy

The school is a full-fledged educational center that provides the curriculum in the framework of the Russian Ministry of Education. The program also includes in-depth study of English language, computer science, social and humanitarian projects.

The older pupils are offered a boarding package (1950 euros per month).

Ecole française de Podgorica (EFEP)

The newest international school in Montenegro, the French-European EFEP, opened in September 2018. The certificate is confirmed by the French Ministry of Education and is accepted worldwide. The main language is French, but Montenegrin and English are also taught from the beginning. A fourth language — German or Italian — offered in middle school. Some classes are conducted remotely using the French CNED (National Center for Distance Learning) program.

To enroll in school, you need to fill out the registration form and follow the instructions. Children who wish to study at EFEP, but do not speak French, have the opportunity to take an intensive course during the summer, and will be offered additional classes throughout the school year.

5. KSI Montenegro

Knightsbridge Schools International Montenegro

Knightsbridge Schools International is Montenegro's only International Baccalaureate school. It is a part of KSI network with educational centers in the UK, Columbia, Panama and Portugal. The KSI Montenegro, operating since 2010, also has a license from the Montenegrin Ministry of Education. The graduates receive international and local school certificates.

The KSI Montenegro is a boarding and day school. Students are enrolling throughout the year. Send an application, attaching a standard set of documents:

  1. Copies of parents' passports;
  2. Passport or birth certificate of student;
  3. Copies of documents from past schools (if any).

Processing takes about two weeks, after that the applicants are invited to an interview. Students entering Secondary School (ages 11-16) will be required to complete a short assessment.
For non-English speaking students, a language proficiency test is conducted separately.

QSI International School of Montenegro

Quality Schools International Montenegro is a part of big QSI family with multiple schools around the world.

The school is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA) and it’s certificate is recognized by all prestigious English-speaking universities. It also has the license of the Ministry of Education of Montenegro.

United Kids International Montenegro (UKIM)

The UKIM follows the Great Learning model and offers pre-school, primary and secondary education in English language. The preschool uses Montessori system. The school is fully accredited by the Montenegrin Ministry of Education for ages 2 through 14 (Junior Kindergarten through and including Grade 9).

Registration begins on February 1; a very limited number of applicants are accepted.
