The castle-fortress Biljarda is located in Cetinje near the Monastery. The castle was built in 1838 based on blueprints of Yakov Ozeretskosvkiy and is a two-story building surrounded by a fortress wall and four square towers
The Bijlarda served as the residence of Peter II Petrovic-Njegos — leader and Mitropolite of Montenegro - and later his successors, Danila I and Nikola I. It's named after the billiards table, brought over there straight from Italy.
Since 1951 it serves as the memorial museum of Peter II Petrovic-Njegos. You can see well-preserved furniture, outfits, artwork collections, books, weapons and other exhibits showcasing the life of this venerable ruler of Montenegro. Books written by Peter II Njegos himself (he was not only a talented political mind, but also a writer) are kept there as well.
The museum is open throughout the year, admission fee is 3 Euro.
